What is Laser MicroPeel?
The MicroPeel removes the outermost layers of the skin to reduce fine lines and irregular pigment, revealing a more uniform facial texture and color. It is often combined with the IPL to rejuvenate the skin.
People who can benefit from Laser MicroPeel treatments include those with:
- Fine lines
- Uneven skin tone
- Dull skin
- Actinic keratoses
- Solar lentigines
- Discoloration (often best when combined with IPL)
What to Expect
An optional topical numbing cream is applied to the skin prior to treatment. During the procedure, your eyes will be protected with safety goggles. The laser moves evenly across the skin exfoliating the top layers as a chilling device simultaneously blows cold air for your comfort. The depth of the MicroPeel is determined prior to treatment at your consultation. The procedure takes approximately 20 minutes.
Immediately following the procedure, your skin may feel a slight sunburn sensation. The skin may be red and have some swelling depending upon the depth of the treatment. Cold compresses and post laser cream will be applied to soothe and calm the skin. Sunscreen is especially important for the weeks following the procedure to provide protection to the revitalized skin. A skin care regimen will be chosen to enhance and maintain your results at your follow-up appointment.
Patients with the following conditions are not good candidates for Laser MicroPeel:
- Photosensitivity from topical or prescription medications
- Active cold sores
- Use of Accutane in the previous year
- Broken skin
