Do you suffer from acne scars, fine lines and/or skin discoloration? The ProFractional Laser can tighten skin, improve the appearance of fine lines, reduce the appearance of brown age and sun spots, improve the skin’s texture and pore size, and tighten the skin of the face, neck and hands.
What is a ProFractional Laser?
A laser treatment that removes micro-columns of damaged tissue, Profractional laser technology has the ability to tighten skin by penetrating deep into the dermis in micro-zones while leaving the immediately surrounding skin unaffected and intact. It treats wrinkles, minor acne scars, skin tone, texture, and pigment in a single pass. Because it is micro-targeted, the treatment allows the skin to heal much faster than if the entire area were treated at once. Using the body’s natural healing process, the treatments create new, healthy tighter tissue to replace skin imperfections. Optimal improvement is usually visible in about 2 to 3 months. Because Profractional laser technology spares healthy tissue, it is effective even on delicate skin areas, such as the neck, chest and hands.
People who can benefit from ProFractional laser treatments include those with:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Uneven skin tone and discoloration
- Acne scarring
What to Expect
A numbing cream will be applied to the skin prior to treatment. With deeper treatments, local anesthetic is sometimes utilized for extra comfort. Your eyes will be protected with safety goggles during the procedure. A laser handpiece will move evenly across the skin creating a rapid snapping sound as a chilling device simultaneously blows cold air for your comfort. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes.
The appearance of the treated skin will vary dependent upon the depth of treatment ranging from mild pinkness to moderate redness, with some bleeding and swelling expected from more aggressive treatments. It is common to have a sunburn sensation for the hours following treatment. Cold compresses and post laser cream are applied to soothe and protect the skin. Complete healing typically occurs within a few days. Sunscreen is especially important for the weeks following the procedure to provide protection to the revitalized skin. A skin care regimen will be chosen to enhance and maintain your results at your follow-up appointment.
